I usually hate the living fuck out of these things, but I think it’s because it’s you, Sou that I can not help but think it’s adorable.

[The Queen purred contently, pulling the Sou-blob closer to her with a content sigh, unable to properly understand why he was so cute. In all of the times she had come across the gelatin-like Shadows, the Queen normally kicked them away. Sneered, shoved, scooted away without a care in the world. They bothered her more than she thought they would. Their squelching noises disgusted her, and the instinct to follow something more powerful than them… was downright sickening. The young woman scoffed at the thought of those other creatures, but they were not her Sou right now. Sou was much more important than those nuisances and this would be noted as such.

Petting the blob atop his head, she mewled once again, unable to contain her happiness in this current form.

Since her King was not there at the moment, they could play together!]

…It’s been some time since we played some fun games, right Sou~?  

-At her remark about him being what he was, he couldn’t help but turn just the faintest shade of red. Was she really that fond of him? He had usually stayed away from her out of respect for his younger brother, as he had noted just how often her brother would turn his attention to her, albeit most of the time it had been for the stupidest things.

Perhaps that was his way, clumsy as it was, of showing his fondness of the Shadow.

At least… it seemed that they had settled things between themselves-

…?

-Play? What did she mean by play? He blinks inquisitively up at her, his shapeless form tilting to one side to convey his confusion to her.

Why did he feel like he was going to dread this…?

He stared at the identical being. Were they both shadows of the same foolish human being? He tilted his head to the side slightly, raising an eyebrow. The hell is up with this guy… The way he spoke really pissed him off. Was this guy really the same as him—a shadow born from a Fool?

All together the shadow in front of him struck a wave of irritation through him. “What’s up with that proper attitude?” he asked as he crossed his arms. From what part of his host’s self conscious was this shadow born from? He was a shadow himself yet he didn’t recognize any of these emotions coming from him. 

Was this normal? He wasn’t even aware his host had more than one shadow, so he couldn’t be sure.

As for the ‘having no choice’ comment… “First you talk like a pansy, now you’re ordering me around?” he asked with a dark smirk. “I’m afraid we’re not getting off to a very good start… your highness.”

Of course he was going to be sarcastic. Why should he show respect to someone who was no better than him? This shadow talked big but he was still a shadow born from the same human being; there couldn’t have been any differences in their abilities.

-Indifference continued to emanate from his form, eliciting no reaction whatsoever at the blatant rudeness displayed before him. He clearly had no idea who he was talking to.

Newborns were such a pain in the ass to deal with-

Didst thou forget thine manners when thou hath manifest? Perhaps thine King should grace thee with simple reasons…

Simple reasons as to why thou shalt fear me.

-He extended his hand out, fingers wrapping around the smaller Shadow’s neck. His grip tightened around the Shadow’s ivory column, as with little effort he raised him up, body and all, off the ground-

Thou art a Fool to traipse into mine territory. Newborns shalt show their King proper respect, or there shall be… dire consequences.

-His voice dropped a tone lower as he slowly but surely squeezed around his neck-

The only start thine King wishes is for thee to show some respect to me. Thine insolence shalt not go unnoticed, cur.

-He spat out the last word with a venomous hiss as he dropped him, golden eyes glaring down mercilessly at his form-

Most of his words was a bit mumbled when they reach her ears. She knew he was talking, but for a few minutes and she isn’t feeling anything, namely a sword cutting her down or some form of attack that’s out to make her feel agony, she carefully peeked up from the protection of her arms.

What she saw was the other Shadow holding a blanket that’s trailing behind him, his other hand holding a hand puppet, and he was staring at her nervously. That, she didn’t expect.

Feeling a little safer and braver, she lifted her head from her arms completely and looked at him properly for the first time. ‘He… doesn’t look that dangerous.’ She tilted her head to the side. ‘In fact, he doesn’t look like how I imagined Seta’s Shadow to be at all….’

Very slowly, and cautiously, she stretch out a hand then paused. ‘Wait, what am I doing…?’

Paused mid-way, she feel silly, looking over at the other Shadow. Then, in an attempted to recover from that sudden feeling, she moved to take the blanket from him. ‘The blanket is safe, right…?’

“T-t-thank you….?”

-He didn’t know why seeing her act so vulnerable unnerved him, possibly because of the fact that no one ever did do that around him. This girl… this Shadow… why was she so scared of him?

Him, rather… his brother? He couldn’t recall seeing her drift to his brother’s territory before… so perhaps, another?

Was it possible that there were other Shadows aside from him and his brother out there?

Had one of them hurt this particular one?-

…

-The poor thing. Not all Shadows were bad… right?

His thoughts were sent to a jumble as he noticed her attempt at taking the blanket from him. He smiles encouragingly at her as he moved not a muscle, feeling his heart sink when she paused mid-way.

He wasn’t going to hurt her…-

Ah…!

-He couldn’t help but feel victorious when she finally took the blanket from him, smiling widely at her as if to congratulate the progress he’d managed to achieve with her. He had, however, not expected his heart to start racing when he heard her thank him for it, finding himself looking away with a rosy tint blooming across his cheeks-

A-Ah… um… y-you’re welcome…! Um, y-you can keep it if you like, I-I mean, I have plenty more where that came from! Aheh…

-Darn it all why was she so cute?!-
